By trade I am a painter although through the years I have added computer artist to my skills. I was born in Muncie Indiana and started college at Ball State University. I transferred and was trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Painting and Drawing, graduating with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1977 and my Master of Fine Arts in 1978. I studied with many fine teachers but my main influences were Ray Yoshida and Whitney Halsted.
When I try to label myself I generally describe myself as an Artist who teaches, I am a Professor of Art at Joliet Junior College in Joliet. I take care of the computer lab, teaching graphic design and computer art and I teach life drawing. In the years I have taught many other subjects including painting. Some of my students have gone on to do great things, and I am very proud of their achievements.
My art is in various collections and I have shown very extensively in the Chicago area, nationally and internationally. I consider myself a Chicago artist although I am based in Oswego, Illinois, where I have my studio at my home. I am married with two grown children.
